E-Visa Application Requirements
- The application is made through the official electronic visa portal of the Yemen Immigration, Passport and Citizenship Authority. The applicant must first check from the eligibility screen whether they can use the system based on their travel document and citizenship information. Eligibility and documents to be submitted are determined according to the selected visa type, travel purpose and the applicant's circumstances.
- When creating the portal account, the first name, surname, mobile phone number, email address and password information are entered. The email address must be verified. The password must consist of at least eight characters; must contain a digit, a letter and at least one capital letter.
- In the application, a legible electronic copy of the page of the passport containing personal information must be uploaded. The passport or travel document must be valid for at least 180 days beyond the planned date of entry.
- A recent color electronic photograph is uploaded. The portal specifies a white background and 4 × 6 size for the photograph.
- Within the scope of the application, a health certificate issued by an authorized health institution showing the absence of infectious diseases may be requested.
- For a visit visa, the electronic request of the host person or organization in Yemen is submitted. For family visit applications, a document showing the family relationship is required.
- For a work visa, a scanned copy of the signed employment contract is submitted. For business visa applications, information showing the applicant's profession and business activity may be examined. Depending on the travel purpose and the selected business visa type, an additional request or invitation document from the company or host organization in Yemen may be requested.
- For an urgent tourist visa application, a letter obtained from the Yemen Tourism General Authority and the application document of the authorized travel agency are required.
- In an electronic application for transit purposes, the port, airport or border point of arrival in and departure from Yemen, and the details of the onward travel are entered. If a visa for the destination country is required, a document related to that visa may be requested.
- The applicant must give a commitment agreeing to leave Yemen at the end of the stay. At entry, sufficient financial means, a return or onward ticket and documents supporting the purpose of travel may be examined.
- The published processing time for complete electronic applications is 3–5 business days. The examination result is sent to the email address provided during the application. If the competent authority requests additional review or additional documents, the processing time may be extended.
- The approval notification must be printed and presented to the border officer together with the passport or travel document used upon arrival in Yemen. The travel document used in the electronic application and the document presented at entry must be the same. If the passport is changed after the application, a new application may be required.
- This information may be determined according to the visa type selected by the applicant and the personal application screen generated by the portal.
Consular Visa Application Requirements
- Before applying for a consular visa, obtaining an entry or visa approval from the competent authority in Yemen may be required. The inviting person, employer, educational institution, company or other host organization in Yemen must submit the necessary request to the Immigration, Passport and Citizenship Authority. The applicant must submit the obtained approval or invitation information to the relevant Yemeni embassy or consulate.
- The application form must be completed in full, dated and signed by the applicant. The form requests first name and surname, nationality, gender, place and date of birth, marital status, profession, passport type and number, dates of issue and expiry, permanent address, telephone number, purpose of travel, requested visa duration, number of entries, intended length of stay and address or reference information in Yemen.
- The original valid passport and a copy of the page containing personal information are submitted. The passport must be valid for at least six months for the planned travel. Some missions require the validity to continue for at least six months after the planned date of departure from Yemen. The local rule of the mission applied to is applied.
- The central visa form specifies two recent passport-sized photographs. The Arabic section of the form includes the size 4 × 6. The number of photographs may differ on the local pages of some missions.
- A copy of the return ticket, onward ticket or flight itinerary may be submitted. Depending on the purpose of travel and the mission applied to, the accommodation address in Yemen, information on the host person or organization and the travel itinerary may also be requested.
- A doctor's letter or health certificate showing that the applicant does not have an infectious disease may be requested.
- For a visit visa, the host's application in Yemen, address, profession and residence information; evidence that the visitor's accommodation and living expenses can be covered; a commitment that the visitor will leave the country at the end of the authorized stay; and a copy of the visitor's passport may be submitted.
- For a business purpose application, an invitation or assignment letter from the employer or company in Yemen is required. If traveling for employment purposes, the employment contract, employer's request or relevant work approval must be submitted. For study purpose applications, the acceptance letter of the educational institution; information showing the nature and duration of the education are required.
- If the applicant is applying at a Yemeni mission in a country where they are not a citizen, they must submit a document showing they legally reside in that country and, if necessary, a re-entry permit.
- For those traveling on diplomatic or official duty, a note or assignment letter issued by the relevant ministry of foreign affairs, diplomatic mission or official institution; the name, address and contact details of the host institution in Yemen; and a copy of the diplomatic or service passport are required.
- For applications of minors, documents of the parent or legal representative may be requested. Some official missions require a notarized consent from both parents for applicants under 18.
- For applications based on family relationship, a birth certificate, marriage certificate, family registration document or another official document proving the relationship may be submitted. The translation, notarization, legalization or apostille requirements for these documents vary according to the mission applied to and the country of issue.
- For applications involving invitation or sponsorship, evidence that the host can cover the visitor's accommodation and living expenses may be requested.
- The application fee, accepted payment method and processing time vary by mission. Some official missions accept only a specific currency and payment instrument, while others publish a local processing time after visa approval is obtained.
- The validity period of the visa, whether single or multiple entry, and the maximum permitted stay are determined according to the approval granted and the visa type.
- The competent mission may request additional documents, explanations, original documents or a personal interview depending on the purpose of the application and the applicant's circumstances. The local document list must be confirmed with the embassy or consulate where the application is made.
Transit Visa Requirements
- A transit visa may be requested through the electronic system or through an authorized Yemeni diplomatic mission. The application route to be used depends on the applicant's eligibility and travel itinerary.
- In an application made through a consulate, a fully completed and signed visa form, the original passport, a copy of the page containing personal information of the passport, and a photograph are submitted. The passport must be valid for at least six months on the date of transit travel.
- The applicant must submit a confirmed airline or other transport ticket issued for the country of onward travel through Yemen. If a visa is required for entry to the destination country, a valid visa for the destination country must also be presented. A document showing their status may be requested from persons who are citizens of the destination country or have the right of direct entry to that country.
- In an electronic transit application, the airport, port or border crossing point of arrival in and departure from Yemen; travel dates and information on the country of onward travel must be entered. The system may generate personalized additional documents after the applicant's information and itinerary are selected.
- For applications completed through the electronic portal, the general processing time is published as 3–5 business days; the consular processing time may vary depending on the mission applied to.
