APEC Economies and 2026 Passport Rankings

Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation is a regional economic forum formed in 1989 to support practical cooperation across the Asia-Pacific. It brings together 21 member economies rather than using a purely state-based membership model. The forum focuses on trade, investment, regional integration and conditions that make cross-border activity easier. Its work gives this passport ranking a clear economic and geographic frame without changing the Passport Reports methodology.

APEC works through voluntary cooperation, regular meetings and policy coordination among its member economies. Its agenda includes trade and investment liberalisation, business facilitation, economic and technical cooperation, digital economy, customs procedures and structural reform. The forum does not create a passport score of its own, but it provides a useful grouping for comparing mobility across Pacific-facing economies. This page keeps that institutional context separate from the data calculations.

The APEC ranking view compares only the passports included in the APEC economy list, while the global view preserves each passport’s position in the worldwide index. Every figure comes from the central mobility records used across Passport Reports, including visa-free access, visa on arrival, eTA access and visa-required destinations. The same ranking order and tie-break logic remain in place, so the comparison stays consistent with the rest of the site. When the central data changes, the visible APEC figures update automatically.
