About Shanghai Cooperation Organization Countries
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental organisation founded in 2001 after the earlier Shanghai Five process. It brings together countries across Eurasia with a focus on security dialogue, political coordination and practical cooperation. The organisation has expanded over time and Belarus became its tenth member state in 2024. This page uses membership only as a passport comparison group, not as a common travel or visa area.
The organisation works through summits, ministerial meetings, permanent bodies and specialised cooperation channels. Its agenda covers regional security, connectivity, economic dialogue and cultural exchange, while each member keeps control over its own borders and entry rules.
