How Do We Rank It?

The G20 Ranking compares only passports from countries included in G20. The results are re-ranked from 1 within G20.Global Ranking Methodology: passportreports.com ranks passports by their Mobility Score. The Mobility Score represents the total number of countries that can be entered visa-free, with a visa on arrival, or with an electronic travel authorization. If Mobility Scores are equal, the number of countries accessible without a visa is considered first. If that number is also equal, the number of countries accessible with an electronic travel authorization is considered. If the tie remains, the number of countries accessible with a visa on arrival is considered. If all values are equal, the countries share the same rank. Review the algorithm used in our methodology.

About G20

The G20 brings together major advanced and emerging economies in a high-level setting for international economic coordination. It began in 1999 at finance minister and central bank level, then became a leaders’ summit forum after the global financial crisis. The current process includes nineteen countries, the European Union and the African Union, while this page focuses on the nineteen national passports represented in Passport Reports. The comparison uses the G20 grouping without changing the scoring method used across the passport index.

G20 work covers financial stability, trade, sustainable development, digital transformation, climate, energy, health and wider economic resilience. It has a rotating presidency and no permanent secretariat, so priorities are carried from year to year through coordination among successive hosts. The group does not create a shared border, a common visa area or a unified passport regime. Each passport therefore keeps its own travel access profile based on separate visa policies and international arrangements.

The G20 ranking view compares only the passports of the nineteen listed member countries, while the global view keeps their worldwide positions visible. The figures come from the central Passport Reports system, including visa-free destinations, visa on arrival, eTA access and visa-required destinations. The same ranking order and tie-break rules used across the website remain unchanged. When central mobility records are updated, the figures on this page update automatically.
