BRICS Countries and 2026 Passport Rankings

BRICS is a cooperation group built around major emerging economies and the wider influence they carry in global affairs. It began with Brazil, Russia, India and China, later expanded with South Africa and then welcomed new members from the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia. The group is not a single market or a passport union, but it provides a meaningful frame for comparing countries with large populations, strategic resources and growing regional roles. This page uses that frame without changing the Passport Reports methodology.

BRICS activity focuses on economic coordination, development finance, trade dialogue, political consultation and cooperation among countries from the Global South. Its members differ widely in geography, income levels, travel rules and diplomatic networks, which makes passport mobility especially useful to compare. A BRICS passport ranking does not measure political power or economic size by itself. It shows how the passports of member countries perform under the same mobility categories used across the site.

The BRICS ranking view compares only passports in the BRICS country list, while the global view keeps each passport’s position in the worldwide index. Every figure comes from the central Passport Reports records, including visa-free access, visa on arrival, eTA access and visa-required destinations. The same ranking order and tie-break logic remain in place, so the comparison stays consistent with all other ranking pages. When the central data changes, the BRICS figures on this page update automatically.
