About MERCOSUR Countries
MERCOSUR is the Southern Common Market, a South American integration process built around economic cooperation and regional coordination. It began with the Treaty of Asunción in 1991 and was founded by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Bolivia is included in this passport comparison as part of the member framework used for this page. The page uses the MERCOSUR grouping to compare national passports without changing the Passport Reports methodology.
MERCOSUR works on trade, customs coordination, market integration and institutional cooperation among its members. It does not create a single passport, a shared citizenship document or one unified visa area for travelers. Each member country continues to issue its own passport and maintain its own entry arrangements with other destinations. For that reason, passport mobility can differ clearly even within the same regional bloc.
