How Do We Rank It?

The Asia Ranking compares only passports from Asian countries. The results are re-ranked from 1 within Asia.Global Ranking Methodology: passportreports.com ranks passports by their Mobility Score. The Mobility Score represents the total number of countries that can be entered visa-free, with a visa on arrival, or with an electronic travel authorization. If Mobility Scores are equal, the number of countries accessible without a visa is considered first. If that number is also equal, the number of countries accessible with an electronic travel authorization is considered. If the tie remains, the number of countries accessible with a visa on arrival is considered. If all values are equal, the countries share the same rank. Review the algorithm used in our methodology.

About Asia

Asia is Earth's largest continent, extending from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Indian Ocean in the south. It features dramatic natural contrasts, from the frozen tundra of Siberia to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. The continent's mountainous backbone, including the Himalayas, influences climate and human settlement patterns across vast distances. Dense river deltas and fertile plains support large populations in countries like China, India, and Bangladesh.

With more than four billion inhabitants, Asia is home to a remarkable diversity of cultures, languages, and religions. Ancient trade routes such as the Silk Road connected civilizations for millennia, fostering exchanges of goods, ideas, and technologies. Today, the continent hosts some of the world's most dynamic economies, with major financial hubs in Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, and Dubai. Regional organizations like ASEAN facilitate cooperation among Southeast Asian nations, shaping collective economic and political frameworks.

Asian cities range from ultramodern metropolises like Seoul and Osaka to historic centers such as Kyoto and Istanbul. The continent's cultural heritage is reflected in its cuisine, festivals, and architectural landmarks, which attract millions of visitors annually. Efficient transport networks, including high-speed rail and major airports, connect countries and facilitate both business and tourism. Asia's global influence continues to grow, making its passports a key tool for international mobility.
