Visa-Free Entry Requirements

  • The traveler must create a personal user account on the Togo Voyage platform before their trip and complete the online immigration procedures. When creating the account, a valid and continuously accessible email address and mobile phone number must be provided. The account form also requests first name, last name, date of birth, gender, nationality, and country of residence. The verification code sent to the email or mobile phone number can be used when accessing the account.
  • After completing the online immigration form, the registration document or immigration slip issued must be downloaded and printed. The traveler traveling by air must present this document during check-in. It is stated that travel is not possible without the document. In the current 30-day visa-free entry application, the immigration slip must be completed no later than 24 hours before arrival.
  • The passport used for entry must be valid for at least three months. The passport or travel document presented at border control must be the same as the document declared in the online immigration registration. The number of blank pages required in the passport for visa-free entry, whether the passport must be biometric or machine-readable, and the rules applicable to damaged passports are not definitively specified in the central official source.
  • Border officials may request accommodation reservation or other proof of accommodation, and a return or onward ticket showing the planned departure from the country. A specific bank statement, minimum financial sufficiency amount, employment certificate, student certificate, or daily travel itinerary is not specified as a mandatory and universal requirement for visa-free entry in the central official source.
  • Travel health insurance is recommended but is not mandatory as a general entry requirement. The minimum coverage amount that the insurance must have is not definitively specified in the central official source.
  • Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for travelers arriving from a place with yellow fever risk or transiting through such a place for more than 12 hours. The yellow vaccination card containing the vaccination record must be carried during travel. A COVID-19 vaccination certificate, PCR test, or antigen test is no longer required for entry and exit.
  • The maximum visa-free stay period is determined according to the exemption regulation applicable to the traveler. On the current homepage, a maximum stay of 30 days is foreseen for one of the broad visa-free entry applications in effect. Whether visa-free entry provides single or multiple entry rights and the conditions for extending the stay are not explained by a central rule for all exemption types.

E-Visa Application Requirements

  • The e-visa application must be made online on the Togo Voyage platform. The applicant must create a personal account, provide a valid email address and phone number, fill out the online visa form completely, and declare the purpose of travel, duration of stay, type of entry, travel document, and planned date of entry. A central instruction requiring the application form to be additionally signed by hand has not been published.
  • The required visa type, fee, and personalized document list are determined by the online Visa Assistant based on the travel document used, the country issuing the document, the purpose of travel, duration of stay, single or multiple entry request, and current Togo residence status. Therefore, the personal checklist generated by the system should be taken as a basis.
  • The validity of the passport must be at least three months longer than the expiry date of the requested visa. A scanned copy of the first three pages of the passport must be uploaded to the system. The number of blank pages required in the passport, the requirement for a biometric or machine-readable passport, and the rules regarding damaged passports are not definitively specified in the central official source.
  • One recent identity photo must be uploaded. The photo must be taken in the last six months, in color, natural-looking, clear, and unretouched. Lighting must be even; no shadow, reflection, overexposure, or underexposure. The background must be light-colored, plain, and monochrome. The head must be fully visible and centered; the face must look directly at the camera, eyes on the same horizontal line, shoulders and head straight, expression neutral, and mouth closed. The face and eyes must be fully visible, with no disturbing glasses reflection. The exact size, file format, resolution, and maximum file size of the photo are not definitively specified in the central official source.
  • If entering by air, a flight reservation document or copy of the airline ticket is mandatory. After approval, the e-visa information sent together with the immigration registration document must be downloaded and printed. The airline checks the printed document showing that online immigration procedures are completed and the visa is approved during check-in. A visa application still awaiting approval does not grant entry rights.
  • For tourist trips and participation in meetings, fairs, seminars, or conferences, the online form, passport scan, recent photo, and flight document if entering by air are mandatory. Travel insurance, hotel reservation or accommodation certificate issued by the municipality or governorate, invitation letter, and bank document showing sufficient financial resources are recommended but listed as optional in the central list.
  • For an immigration visa for education or internship purposes, a registration certificate from an authorized educational institution in Togo or an internship certificate issued by a company or association duly registered in the country is mandatory. For family reunification applications, an invitation letter must be submitted; if the family member in Togo is a foreigner, a copy of that person's residence permit must be attached. For an immigration visa for professional purposes, an entry authorization issued by the Togolese Ministry of Security is mandatory.
  • For a professional visa application, a document showing the profession, professional card, and accreditation issued by the relevant ministry or the organization the applicant will work with must be submitted. A letter from the inviting person or organization, and a hotel reservation or accommodation certificate issued by the municipality or governorate are mandatory. Travel insurance and financial sufficiency document are optional.
  • The entry authorization required under professional immigration is obtained separately by the inviting party or the person or organization organizing the work in Togo. In this process, a petition addressed to the Minister of Security bearing a fiscal stamp of 5,000 FCFA per person, a copy of the invited person's passport, the applicant's economic operator card, establishment permit, residence permit or national identity card if required, and the company's valid social obligations compliance certificate are submitted. The competent authority may conduct an interview if deemed necessary.
  • For a courtesy visa issued for official duties and visits, the online form, scan of the first three pages of the passport, recent photo, and flight document for air travel are mandatory. A note verbale signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and sent to the Minister of Security must also be submitted. The courtesy visa is multiple entry and is issued free of charge to official representatives.
  • The standard fee varies according to travel duration and number of entries. A single-entry visa for 1–15 days is 25,000 FCFA, a multiple-entry visa for 1–15 days is 35,000 FCFA, a multiple-entry visa for 16–30 days is 45,000 FCFA, and a multiple-entry visa for 31–90 days is 65,000 FCFA. A multiple-entry visa for professional purposes for 91–365 days is 100,000 FCFA. The immigration visa is multiple entry for 31–90 days and its fee is 65,000 FCFA. The current personal fee generated by the application system should be checked before payment.
  • Payment can be made online with Visa or Mastercard bank card, or with Flooz and TMoney mobile payment services. Cash payment is not accepted. The fee paid is not refunded if the application is rejected or the applicant withdraws. After the application and payment are completed, the information in the form cannot be corrected; if an error is found, a new application may be required.
  • The official maximum processing time for standard applications is five business days. The current homepage requires that the application be made at least five days before arrival. The detailed procedure page recommends applying at least six business days in advance, and the frequently asked questions section recommends at least seven business days. The application cannot be made earlier than 90 days before the planned date of entry.
  • Tourist and professional visas can be issued for 1–15 days, 16–30 days, or 31–90 days. The professional visa can be granted for up to 365 days for certain company founders or persons with regular professional activity in the country. The maximum duration of the immigration visa is 90 days and it can be renewed once; the person entering with this visa must initiate residence permit procedures in Togo. The start date of the visa is considered the actual date of entry.
  • Every minor traveler must have their own passport and a separate visa application must be made on behalf of the child. The user account can be created by the parent or legal guardian on behalf of the child. Children are charged the same visa fee as adults. Birth certificate, parental consent, or custody document is not published as a central and universal requirement for all child applications.
  • The period that the bank statement must cover and the minimum amount required in the account are not definitively specified in the central official source. The minimum coverage amount of travel insurance is not definitively specified in the central official source. That fingerprints or other biometric data must be provided for standard e-visa applications is not definitively specified in the central official source. The requirements for translation, notarization, legalization, or apostille of documents have also not been published as a central rule for all applications.
  • At the time of entry, the passport used in the application, the immigration slip with QR code, and visa references must be presented. Proof of accommodation and return ticket may also be requested. If inconsistencies are detected in the documents or declarations, border authorities may deny entry even if an e-visa was issued.
