Visa-Free Entry Requirements
- A passenger benefiting from visa exemption must present a valid passport or accepted travel document at border control. The application of the exemption depends on the terms of the relevant bilateral or regional agreement.
- A yellow fever vaccination certificate must be carried upon entry to Niger.
- A common checklist of a round-trip ticket, accommodation document, bank statement, minimum financial means, or travel health insurance valid for all passengers for visa-free entry has not been published.
- The maximum permitted duration of stay under the exemption may vary according to the relevant agreement.
Visa on Arrival Requirements
- A visa at the border can only be issued through an exceptional pre-authorization procedure. The applicant must depart from a country where Niger has no diplomatic or consular representation and must have prior authorization from the Nigerien Minister of the Interior. There is no general visa-on-arrival system whereby a passenger can go directly to the border point and request a visa without prior authorization.
- The applicant's correspondent, host, or contact person in Niger must submit the application together with passport copies to the Nigerien Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The application is then forwarded to the Presidential Cabinet and the Ministry of the Interior. After review by the relevant security units, if no objection is raised, a positive opinion is given for the entry visa to be issued by the Regional Surveillance Directorate.
- The applicant must complete the necessary supplementary procedures at the Regional Surveillance Directorate with the granted authorization. The approval or authorization letter may be required to be presented at border control.
- A yellow fever vaccination certificate must be carried upon actual entry to Niger.
Consular Visa Application Requirements
- The visa application must, as a rule, be made to the Nigerien embassy or consulate responsible for the applicant's country of residence. The mission may decide whether to accept the application based on nationality, legal place of residence, purpose of travel, and its own jurisdiction.
- Under the central application requirements, a passport and a copy of the passport, two completely filled and signed application forms, and two recent, bare-headed, 4 × 4 photographs clearly showing the applicant must be submitted. In missions' electronic pre-application procedures, a single scanned copy of the form and documents may be accepted at the first stage; after visa approval, the original passport, original form, and physical photograph may be requested.
- In official mission practices, the passport is required to be valid for at least six months.
- The mission where the application is made may request a legible copy of the sections containing the passport's identity information and validity dates.
- In the application form, the following must be reported: surname, given name, date and place of birth, profession, nationality, gender, marital status, residential address, address in Niger, telephone numbers, email address, planned date of entry, airline and flight number, duration of stay, city of arrival, previous travels to Niger, purpose of travel, persons traveling together, passport number, passport issue and expiry dates, and emergency contact persons in Niger and in the country of residence. The applicant must declare that the information is correct and that they will comply with Nigerien laws, then date and sign the form.
- Missions that accept electronic documents may require scans to be in PDF format and of good photocopy quality.
- For tourist or private visit applications, an invitation letter or a contract with a local travel agency, an identity document or Nigerien residence permit of the inviting person, round-trip transportation reservation, and hotel reservation or other accommodation proof may be required. Some missions require from employees a professional identity card, employment document, and leave letter; from retirees, proof of pension.
- For family visit applications, an invitation letter, the inviting person's identity document or residence permit, travel reservation, accommodation proof, and documents showing the family relationship may be required. The invitation letter must state the host's address, telephone number, neighborhood of residence, assumption of accommodation and expenses, and the planned duration of stay. An electricity or water bill may be requested to support the host's address.
- For business applications, an invitation letter issued by the company or business partner in Niger explaining the purpose of the visit, the inviting organization's registration document, the company representative's identity document or residence permit, proof of the applicant's professional activity, round-trip transportation reservation, and accommodation document may be required. As professional proof, a professional identity card, employment document, company registration document, or tax identification document may be accepted.
- For official duty or work visit applications, an invitation letter or assignment decision, a letter of assignment, round-trip transportation reservation, and accommodation proof may be required.
- For journalism and filming purpose applications, a letter of assignment, a filming permit obtained from the Nigerien authority responsible for communications, round-trip transportation reservation, and accommodation document must be submitted.
- For student applications, an acceptance or enrollment document from the educational institution in Niger, the planned study program, transportation reservation, accommodation arrangement, and evidence showing that living expenses in Niger can be covered may be required.
- For medical treatment applications, a medical file, estimated hospital and treatment costs prepared by the healthcare facility in Niger, a document showing that the estimated amount has been prepaid, a letter from the healthcare facility confirming acceptance of the patient and the treatment period, flight reservation, accommodation proof, and travel insurance covering medical expenses and repatriation costs may be required.
- Minors may be required to have a valid passport issued in their own name. If the child is not traveling with both parents, a parental consent document and copies of the parents' identity documents must be submitted. The mission may also request a birth certificate, school enrollment document, and if the child is visiting a parent in Niger alone, a document showing the family relationship.
- The document language and certification rules of the mission where the application will be made should be checked in advance.
- The first stage of the application may be conducted by email at some missions. The Washington Embassy requires application documents to be sent electronically, and after approval, the original passport, a recent color photograph, and a prepaid return envelope if return by mail is requested. The Copenhagen Embassy, on the other hand, requires document copies and payment receipt at the first stage, and the original passport, original form, and additional photograph at the second stage.
- The central visa processing time is 15 days. The Copenhagen Embassy requires the application to be made at least three to four weeks before travel. The processing time may be extended depending on the mission, the applicant's situation, and additional security review.
- The visa fee is determined by the mission where the application is made. The fee published by the Washington Embassy is 155 US dollars, and payment is made only by money order issued in the name of the embassy. The fee is non-refundable.
- At the Copenhagen Embassy, the single-entry visa fee is 550 DKK, the multiple-entry visa fee is 850 DKK. Only bank transfer is accepted. For transfers from accounts outside Denmark, a bank charge of 50 DKK must be added. Applications with insufficient payment are not processed, and application fees are not refunded even if the result is negative.
- Visas issued by the Copenhagen Embassy are valid for three months from the date of issue.

- The mission may request additional information, additional documents, or originals of documents from the applicant and may verify the authenticity of the submitted documents. Submitting a complete application does not guarantee that the visa will be issued.
Transit Visa Requirements
- Passengers transiting by air through Niger are exempt from a transit visa as long as they do not leave the airport boundaries during the transfer. If the passenger needs to leave the airport, enter the country, or stay in Niger until the next flight, a transit visa application may be required.
- For a transit visa application, a completed and signed application form, a recent color photograph, a copy of a passport valid for at least six months, transportation reservations showing the entire travel itinerary to the final destination, and, if necessary, a valid visa for the final destination country must be submitted.
- If the passenger needs to stay in Niger before the onward journey, a hotel reservation or other accommodation proof may be required.
