Visa-Free Entry Requirements
- Passengers entering Guinea under a visa exemption must carry a valid passport, national identity card, or another accepted travel document. A valid laissez-passer under the regional free movement arrangement is also among the accepted documents. The type of document that can be used may vary depending on the exemption agreement under which the passenger benefits.
- The passport or travel document must be valid for the duration of travel.
- A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory. The vaccination document must be in the form of an international vaccination card and valid.
- The permitted duration of stay under the exemption may vary depending on the agreement on which the exemption is based. The published duration of stay for the regional free movement exemption is less than 90 days.
- Border authorities may request evidence regarding the purpose of travel, accommodation arrangements, return plans, and sufficient financial means.
E-Visa Application Requirements
- The e-visa application must be made online through the official portal of the Central Directorate of the Guinea Border Police. Submitting the online application does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. The application may be accepted or rejected by the competent authority. If the application is rejected, the processing fee paid is not refunded.
- The application form must provide a valid email address, first name, surname, gender, date of birth, place of birth, country of birth, nationality at birth, current nationality, marital status, occupation, correspondence address, city, country, and telephone number. The first name and surname must match the form written in the passport.
- The passport number, date of issue, date of expiry, and the country that issued the passport must be stated. A scanned copy of the biographical information page of the valid passport must be uploaded. It is not stated that the visa or stamp pages of the passport must be uploaded as standard.
- The passport to be used upon arrival must have a validity of more than six months. For long-term visa applications, the requirement that the passport be valid for at least six months is additionally stated.
- The applicant must state in the form the visa type, purpose of travel, planned arrival and departure dates, the name of the hotel or host, telephone number, local address in Guinea, and the city where the address is located. The portal offers different purposes such as tourism, business, investment, study, family reunification, education, internship, contractual employment, foreign worker, private visit, medical evacuation, diplomatic and official travel.
- A valid return ticket is among the application documents. For transit or transfer journeys, a valid ticket showing passage to the final destination country may also be requested.
- The yellow fever vaccination certificate must be uploaded and carried during travel. There is no additional technical explanation on the portal regarding the file format of the vaccination certificate, the requirement for a physical copy, and the date by which the vaccination must have been administered.
- The applicant's photograph must be uploaded digitally. The photograph must be at least 150 × 200 pixels. The system accepts PDF, JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP formats for document uploads.
- No requirement for a wet signature or scanned signature has been published for the online form. Once the application is completed, it is submitted electronically and a notification confirming receipt of the application is sent to the registered email address. The application ID and password are used to edit the application or track its status.
- The portal generates mandatory document fields during the application depending on the selected visa type. The general document upload screen includes document types such as birth certificate, national identity card, foreign residence permit, refugee document, payment receipt, applicant photograph, previous visa, return ticket, final destination ticket, vaccination certificate, employment contract, and invitation letter. Not all of these documents are universally mandatory for all applicants.
- For tourist or private travel, hotel, host, and local address information must be provided. Accommodation evidence may be requested upon arrival. If staying with a private individual, invitation or hosting evidence may be requested.
- The applicant must have sufficient financial means to cover their expenses in Guinea. Upon arrival, cash, traveler's checks, a bank card, or credit card may be accepted as an indicator of financial sufficiency.
- For long-term visa applications, the biographical information page of the passport, any previous short-term or long-term Guinea visa, valid return ticket, yellow fever certificate, and return guarantee are required. Additional documents must be submitted according to the purpose of travel.
- Persons who will engage in paid employment must submit an employment contract approved by the competent authorities. Persons who will carry out self-employment, agriculture, industry, commerce, art, or similar activity must submit the authorization document required by the activity. Students must submit a registration or re-registration document, interns must submit an internship contract. For applications based on family reunification or family ties, an official document showing marriage or parent-child relationship is required.
- If the long-term visa is based on a family tie, a document showing the parental relationship may be requested.
- No general obligation applicable to all applications has been published on the e-visa portal regarding the translation of documents into French, notarization, apostille, or consular legalization. Additional requirements may be requested depending on the application type or the country where the document was issued.
- The published fee for a tourist visa is 80 USD. The published fee for a transit and transfer visa is 50 USD. The published fee for a long-term visa is 150 USD.
- Payment information, payment date, total amount, payment status, and transaction reference are shown in the application record. The processing fee paid is not refunded if the application is rejected.
- The completeness of the application and the number of pending applications may affect the processing time.
- The published duration for a tourist short-term visa does not exceed 90 days. The portal also mentions a validity period not exceeding five years, but does not clearly show its connection with single-entry or multiple-entry visa. The published validity of the long-term visa is one year from the date of issuance. For long-term stays, after a period of three months, a residence card may need to be obtained or the country must be left.
- Before applying for a diplomatic, service, or courtesy visa, an electronic security code must be obtained. When requesting the security code, an email address and an assignment letter are submitted. The approved code is sent by email and used in the visa application. The validity of this visa is determined according to the period stated in the approval letter.
- Upon application result, an entry visa approval letter is sent by email. The letter must be presented upon arrival in Guinea.
Visa on Arrival Requirements
- Guinea’s current published arrival procedure is a system that requires prior online application and approval. The traveler must complete the e-visa application and obtain the entry visa approval letter before travel. It should not be considered a standard visa-on-arrival application made directly at the border without prior approval.
- The applicant who has received approval must go to the visa counter upon arrival in Guinea. The official service procedure envisages obtaining the visa at the visa counter at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport.
- Upon arrival, a passport with validity of more than six months, entry visa approval letter, valid return ticket, and proof of sufficient financial means must be presented. For tourist travel, accommodation evidence is also requested. Financial means can be demonstrated with cash, traveler's checks, bank card, or credit card; no minimum amount is stated.
- The traveler’s photograph is taken and fingerprints are recorded at the visa counter. This biometric registration is completed at the arrival stage after the online application. No standard interview requirement has been published.
- Although it is understood that the e-visa fee shown on the portal is processed during the application, it is not clearly explained whether there is an additional fee at the arrival counter.
- The visa issued at the border, despite the existence of online approval, does not unconditionally guarantee the right to enter the country. The passport, approval letter, return ticket, accommodation, and financial sufficiency documents must be kept accessible.
Transit Visa Requirements
- The transit visa application is made online through Guinea’s official e-visa portal. The portal also shows a transfer or transshipment visa as a separate option.
- The application requires a valid passport or travel document, a scanned copy of the biographical information page of the passport, a valid return or final destination ticket, and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. The application form may request arrival and departure dates, transit route, and address information to be used in Guinea.
- The published duration for a transit and transfer visa does not exceed three days. The published fee is 50 USD.
- When the application is approved, the entry visa letter is sent by email. The traveler collects the visa at the arrival counter, and at this stage their photograph and fingerprints are recorded.
- Upon arrival, a passport with more than six months validity, entry visa approval letter, valid return or final destination ticket, and sufficient financial means to cover the travel period must be presented.
