Visa on Arrival Requirements

  • A passenger entering with a tourist visa on arrival must carry a passport or another accepted valid travel document valid for more than six months on the date of arrival in Vanuatu. The passenger must show a return ticket indicating departure from Vanuatu or an arrangement providing onward transportation to another country where entry is permitted. Accommodation confirmation or a local address in Vanuatu must also be presented upon entry.
  • The passenger must not be in a prohibited immigrant status, must not be among persons whose return to or entry into Vanuatu has been prohibited by a ministerial decision, and must meet the character assessment. E-Visa Application Requirements

  • Passengers who need to obtain a visa in advance must submit their application before travel via Vanuatu's official e-visa portal and must not travel to Vanuatu before approval is granted. The specific fields required and the list of electronic documents during the application may vary depending on the selected visa type.
  • A separate application must be prepared for each applicant. All relevant questions on the form must be answered; non-applicable fields must not be left blank and health, character, previous visa, residence, communication, employment status, travel purpose, and address information in Vanuatu must be provided correctly. An applicant over 18 years of age must sign the declaration themselves. The declaration for minors must be signed by the required parents or legal guardians.
  • 120-day tourist visa: The applicant must be outside Vanuatu at the time of application. A certified copy of the biographical data page of the passport that is valid for at least six months and will be used for entry into the country must be submitted.   • A return ticket or other transportation arrangement providing for departure from Vanuatu within 120 days from arrival must be submitted. A letter of leave from an employer, an invitation letter for a family or friend visit, a document showing ongoing studies, child care responsibility, or other information requiring the applicant's return may be submitted.
  • The visitor visa can be used for tourism, family or friend visits, meetings, conferences, and other short-term visits. Paid employment or commercial business activity cannot be undertaken. The maximum permitted stay is 30 days. The current application fee is 7,420 Vatu.
  • For applicants under 18 years of age, consent from both living parents or legal guardians is required. In certain cases where the child travels without a parent or guardian, a commitment for accommodation, food, and general care by the responsible adult in Vanuatu must be provided. A document showing the relationship between the parent or guardian and the child may also be requested.
  • Supporting documents prepared in a language other than English, French, or Bislama must be translated into one of these languages by an authorized translator. Incomplete or partially completed applications will not be accepted. The competent authority may request additional information or documents for assessment.

Transit Visa Requirements

If leaving the transit area or making a stopover with accommodation in Vanuatu is planned, an appropriate visitor or tourist visa must be obtained.
  • Each passenger must prepare a separate transit visa application. The application form must be completed in full, health and character questions answered, and the form signed. When using a downloadable form, information must be written in legible capital letters and dates indicated in day/month/year format.
  • A valid passport must be attached to the application. If the applicant is outside Vanuatu, certified copies of the biographical data page and all used pages of the passport that will be used for transit through Vanuatu must be submitted. Pursuant to the general entry requirement, the passport or other valid travel document must be valid for more than six months on the date of arrival.
  • A flight itinerary, ticket, or reservation showing approved onward travel from Vanuatu to another country must be submitted. If a visa, residence permit, or other permission is required for entry into the final destination country, proof thereof must also be attached to the application.
  • The transit visa holder must remain in the announced transit area at the airport and must not enter Vanuatu. With a transit visa, one cannot apply for another visa type, change status, or extend the period of stay.
