Visa-Free Entry Requirements
- The right to visa-free entry depends on the passenger holding a valid passport type covered by the exemption. Passengers within this scope do not need to obtain an electronic travel authorization before travel.
- No form to fill out, application fee to pay, or pre-processing time has been published for visa-free entry either.
Electronic Travel Authorization Requirements
- On official pages, the terms “eTAS”, “eTA”, and “electronic visa” are used for the same online application process. Every passenger under the electronic authorization, including infants and children, must have separate approval before travel begins.
- The application is made via an online form. The applicant must have a passport valid for at least six months after the planned date of arrival in Somalia and at least one blank page in the passport. A selfie or passport-type photograph is uploaded in the application.
- During the application, an email address, phone number, and other communication information must be provided. Travel information regarding the itinerary of arrival in Somalia and departure from Somalia, as well as accommodation reservation confirmation, must be submitted.
- The fee can be paid by credit card, debit card, or other payment methods accepted in the system. The application will not be processed unless the fee is paid. The electronic authorization fee is not refundable after the application is submitted.
- The application should be made before travel and as early as possible.
- The approval is sent to the applicant by email and must be presented upon arrival in the country.
- The electronic application can be used for tourism, family or friend visit, commercial activity, business travel related to sports and entertainment, transit, permitted paid activities, and short-term study purposes of up to six months. The fields on the application screen and additional documents may vary according to the selected travel purpose.
- For commercial travel, an invitation letter received from the inviting company and a copy of the company's registration document are required. For diplomatic travel, a diplomatic, official, or service passport and an official letter issued by the applicant's country, affiliated organization, or foreign affairs authority must be submitted.
- Under general visitor admission conditions, the applicant is expected to hold a valid travel document, be fit for travel in terms of health, have no criminal convictions related to judicial or immigration matters, be able to demonstrate departure from Somalia at the end of the visit, and have sufficient financial means to cover stay expenses. The required financial amount may vary according to the duration of stay and type of accommodation.
- Depending on the applicant's situation, a medical examination or an invitation letter from a person living in Somalia may be requested.
Visa on Arrival Requirements
- The visa on arrival category is officially available. The passenger must present a valid passport covered by the visa on arrival at border control.
Transit Visa Requirements
- Transit is one of the accepted travel purposes in the electronic travel authorization portal. The transit passenger must select the transit purpose on the application form; must submit a valid passport, selfie or passport-type photograph, communication information, and the itinerary of arrival and departure. Transit passengers under the electronic authorization must obtain approval before travel.
- For a transit application, the passport must be valid for at least six months after the planned arrival and have at least one blank page. The application fee is paid electronically and is not refundable after the application is submitted.
- The approval is sent by email and must be presented upon arrival. The final list of documents may vary according to the transit route and personal information selected in the application form.
