Visa-Free Entry Requirements

Transit Visa Requirements

  • An airport transit visa is a Schengen A category visa. This visa only permits transit through the international transit area of an airport in Finland. The visa holder cannot leave the transit area and cannot make a formal entry into Finland or the Schengen Area.
  • An airport transit visa is not sufficient if the transit passenger needs to leave the international area of the airport, collect and re-check baggage, pass through passport control for an overnight stay, or fly to another Schengen country. In this case, a short-stay Schengen C visa permitting entry may be required.
  • The application must be made in person to the competent visa application center, the Finnish foreign mission, or the mission of the Schengen state representing Finland.
