E-Visa Application Requirements

  • The e-visa application is made through the electronic service portal of the Ministry of Interior of Jordan or through the Ministry's official mobile application. Individual applicants must create an electronic account, select the appropriate registration type, and activate their accounts online. For the initial activation of institution and company accounts, a one-time application to the Ministry of Interior may be required.
  • After logging into their account, the applicant must create a new application, select the appropriate visa category and type, fill in the information of the applicant and the invited persons, upload the documents required by the system, and submit the application electronically. The list of required documents varies according to nationality, residence status, purpose of travel, visa type, whether pre-approval is required, and sponsor status. The personalized document list generated in the live application system must be taken as a basis.
  • Eligibility for direct e-visa may depend, for some applicants, on having a residence permit valid for at least six months in a foreign country or a Schengen or United States visa valid for at least six months. Visa on Arrival Requirements

  • Passengers eligible for a visa on arrival must present their valid passport to the border officer at the authorized entry point. The universal minimum validity period required for the passport for a visa on arrival has not been definitively specified in the central official source.
  • The single-entry visa on arrival fee is 40 Jordanian dinars. The visa is valid for one month and an extension can be made from the nearest police station in Jordan. The six-month multiple-entry visa fee is 120 Jordanian dinars and this visa cannot be extended.

Amman is the capital and primary entry point for visitors arriving in Jordan. Queen Alia International Airport serves as the main gateway for international flights. Most travelers begin their journey in Amman before heading to other destinations.

Jordan offers a rich cultural heritage with sites such as Petra and Jerash showcasing ancient civilizations. The Dead Sea and the coastal city of Aqaba on the Red Sea provide natural attractions for relaxation and water activities. Business and educational hubs are concentrated in Amman and Irbid.

Many visitors follow a classic route from Amman south to Petra for a day or two, then continue to Wadi Rum for desert experiences. The journey often ends at Aqaba for beach time or crossing to neighboring countries. Domestic flights and well-maintained highways connect these key destinations.
