Visa-Free Entry Requirements

  • The traveler must carry a valid passport or another acceptable travel document issued by the country of which they are a citizen. The validity of the passport or travel document used for temporary visits must last at least until the end of the permitted stay.
  • All travelers entering and leaving Trinidad and Tobago must complete the online Arrival/Departure Card before travel. The form can be completed no earlier than 72 hours before the planned arrival or departure.
  • When the form is submitted, a receipt containing two QR codes is generated. The receipt must be downloaded or saved and presented to immigration and customs officers. QR codes can be shown in printed form or on a mobile device.
  • The permitted duration of stay for visa-free entry may vary based on the traveler's status and the entry authorization granted at the border.
  • COVID-19 PCR or laboratory-performed antigen testing is not required for entry into the country. Health screening may be applied depending on the traveler's recent travel history or current epidemic measures.
  • Visa exemption does not guarantee entry into the country. The passport, purpose of travel, and other entry conditions are examined by the immigration officer at the border, and the entry decision is made based on this examination.

E-Visa Application Requirements

  • The applicant must answer the eligibility questions in the official e-visa system and complete the online application form in full. There should be no other pending visa application on behalf of the same person.
  • A valid email address is required. Application confirmation, payment notification, file status, and final decision may be communicated via email.
  • The passport must be valid for at least six months from the planned travel date to Trinidad and Tobago. The biographical page of the passport containing the photograph and personal information must be scanned or photographed.
  • One current digital passport photograph must be uploaded. The photograph must be in JPEG, PNG, or BMP format; file size must be between 15 KB and 7,584 KB; dimensions must be at least 480 × 640 pixels, at most 4,800 × 6,400 pixels.
  • The photograph must not be older than six months. Based on physical measurement, the photograph must not be larger than 45 × 35 millimeters and not smaller than 36 × 32 millimeters.
  • The photograph must be clear and in focus; must show the head and upper shoulders; the face must cover approximately 70-80% of the image. The applicant must look directly at the camera, eyes open and mouth closed, with a natural and neutral facial expression.
  • The background must be plain and light-colored. There must be no shadows, reflections, or red-eye effect on the face or background. Tinted glasses are not accepted; eyes must not be covered by frames or reflections.
  • Head coverings are only acceptable in religious, medical, or cultural circumstances, which may be approved by the competent authority. Facial features must be clearly visible.
  • The personal information and purpose of travel submitted in the application determine the supporting documents to be uploaded. The system does not generate a single fixed checklist for all applicants.
  • Supporting documents must be in PDF format, and each file must not exceed 450 KB. A maximum of 20 supporting documents can be uploaded.
  • In the personalized upload panel, the biographical page of the passport, documents indicating the purpose of travel, valid return ticket, proof of accommodation, financial document, employment letter, invitation letter, company letter, and previous entry or stay extension stamp may be requested.
  • If an employment letter is requested, the document must not be older than three months.
  • In the invitation or company letter, the purpose of travel, address in Trinidad and Tobago, contact information, and who will be financially responsible for the visit expenses must be explained.
  • Hotel, guesthouse, or private residence information may be requested as proof of accommodation. If staying at a private residence, the host's identity or passport document and additional documents confirming the address may be required.
  • The applicant may be required to submit their own account statement showing financial sufficiency or the sponsor's financial documents.
  • If the applicant resides, works, or studies outside their country of citizenship, a residence permit, work permit, student visa, or equivalent document showing their legal status in that country may be requested.
  • From minor applicants, a birth certificate, the biographical page of the parent or legal guardian's passport, and, where applicable, a custody or guardianship document may be requested.
  • Non-English supporting documents must be translated into English by a certified translator.
  • The e-visa system currently shows 800 Trinidad and Tobago dollars for the multiple-entry visa application fee. The fee is non-refundable.
  • Online payment can only be made with a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card. After payment and submission, the application cannot be changed or re-edited online.
  • The total validity period of the multiple-entry e-visa, the maximum permitted duration of stay per entry, and the number of possible trips are determined according to the approval document issued as a result of the application.
  • Travel health insurance, minimum insurance coverage, vaccination certificate, fingerprints, and mandatory interview have not been published as universal requirements for all e-visa applications.
  • The immigration authority may request a new photograph, additional documents, or personal re-submission of documents.
  • The approved e-visa is sent as an email attachment. Since Trinidad and Tobago entry visas are issued electronically, no physical visa sticker or stamp is affixed to the passport. The electronic visa must be printed and carried in printed form during travel.
  • The e-visa holder must also complete the online Arrival/Departure Card before travel and present the generated QR codes to immigration and customs officers.
  • The issuance of an e-visa does not guarantee entry into the country. The final decision is made upon immigration inspection at the point of entry.

Consular Visa Application Requirements

  • The application may be submitted to the Trinidad and Tobago embassy, high commission, or consulate responsible for the applicant's country of residence. If there is no representation in the country of residence, the nearest authorized diplomatic mission must be used.
  • The central e-visa portal is the main application channel. However, some diplomatic missions accept visa applications by mail, by appointment in person, or by another mission-specific method. The exact procedure varies according to the mission applied to.
  • The application form must be completed in full, the declaration section signed and dated. Some missions may require two copies of the form.
  • Holders of ordinary passports are generally required to have a passport valid for at least six months from the planned travel date. Special travel documents must be valid for at least the planned duration of stay. The exact passport validity standard may vary by document type and mission.
  • A color copy of the biographical information page of the passport must be submitted. Some missions also require the original passport, while others may accept only a copy or electronic scan.
  • A current color passport photograph is required. The central photo guide stipulates that the photograph must not be older than six months, must use a plain and light-colored background, and must measure between 36 × 32 millimeters and 45 × 35 millimeters.
  • The number of photographs may vary by mission. Some missions require one, others two photographs.
  • If the applicant is applying in a country different from their country of citizenship, they must submit a valid residence permit, permanent residence card, work permit, student visa, or other legal residence document. Some missions require a notarized copy of this document.
  • An employment letter or student document may be requested from the applicant. The employment letter must be current, prepared on official letterhead, signed by an authorized person, and include the employer's contact information.
  • For business trips, a company or institution letter must be submitted. The letter must explain the purpose of travel and planned duration of stay.
  • For visits to family or friends, an invitation letter may be requested. The letter must explain the purpose of travel, the address where the applicant will stay, contact information, and who will cover the expenses.
  • A copy of the host's valid passport or identity card may be attached to the invitation letter. To verify the host's address, a utility bill, rental agreement, letter from the host, or property owner's identity may be requested.
  • Current bank statements of the applicant or sponsor may be submitted. Some missions require at least the last three months' transactions and that the applicant's name appears on the statement.
  • A valid return ticket or flight itinerary showing return to the country of residence must be submitted. Accommodation reservation and travel itinerary may also be requested.
  • From minor applicants, a birth certificate, copies of parents' passports or identity cards, a custody document, and, in the case of traveling alone or with one parent, a consent letter may be requested. The notarization requirement and format of the document vary by mission.
  • Non-English documents must be submitted with an official or certified English translation. Notarization, apostille, and legalization requirements vary by mission and the country where the document was issued.
  • The consular visa fee, payment currency, diplomatic service fee, and accepted payment method vary by mission.
  • Some missions accept only bank transfers or money orders, while others may use different methods. The current fee schedule of the authorized mission must be used before payment.
  • The timeframe for submitting the application before travel and the processing time may vary by mission, country of residence, and additional security checks. Some missions publish a minimum processing time of 10 business days for complete files, while others require files to be submitted four weeks or more in advance.
  • The competent authority may request a personal interview, additional documents, or the applicant's in-person appearance.
  • The entry visa resulting from an approved consular application is issued electronically and sent by email. The traveler must print the electronic visa and carry it during travel.
  • Whether the visa issued through the consular channel is single or multiple entry, its validity period, and the permitted duration of stay are shown in the issued electronic visa document.
  • A valid visa does not guarantee automatic entry into the country. Entry conditions are re-examined by the immigration officer at the border.

Transit Visa Requirements

  • Whether a transit visa is required depends on the traveler's passport, the travel document used, their connecting flight, and whether they will pass through immigration control during transit.
  • An applicant subject to a transit visa must follow the current application procedure of the authorized Trinidad and Tobago diplomatic mission.
  • The application form must be completed in full and signed. A color copy of the biographical page of the valid passport or accepted travel document must be submitted.
  • Some official mission checklists require one current, 35 × 45 millimeter color photograph.
  • A flight itinerary or connecting ticket showing onward travel to another country must be submitted.
  • Non-English documents must be submitted with an official English translation.
